1. INFORMATION WE COLLECT

In the course of operating the Services, Thea Career collects or receives the following types of information, which may include personal information.

Contact Information

When you sign up to use the Services, enroll in a course, apply to teach, or join our email list, you may be required to provide personal information about yourself and (if applicable) your organization, such as name, address, phone number, email address, company name, job title, and areas of professional interest (collectively, “Contact Information”). We do not collect Contact Information unless you provide it voluntarily.

Billing Information

To purchase a course, subscription, or certification through the Platform, you will be required to provide certain information in addition to Contact Information. Such information may include a debit/credit card number, billing address, expiration date, and security code (collectively, “Billing Information”). Payments are processed by our third-party payment processors; we do not store full payment card numbers.

Geolocational Information

To provide access to the Services while you are using an electronic device, we may automatically collect geolocational information from your device, your wireless carrier, or certain third-party providers (“Geolocational Information”). Collection occurs only when the Services are running on your device. You can control collection via your device settings; if disabled, some features may not function.

Other Information

In addition to the categories above, we may collect additional information regarding you and your use of our Services, your interactions with us and our advertising, as well as information regarding your computers or devices (collectively, “Other Information”). Other Information may include:

  • Information you provide: Additional details you voluntarily provide (e.g., professional background, course interests, support requests), and any content you submit (assignments, quiz responses, discussion posts, portfolios).
  • Information from your online activity: Device type, advertising identifier (IDFA/AdID), operating system/version, carrier and network type, IP address, browser type and language, referring/exit pages and URLs, date/time stamps, time spent on pages or lessons, features used, progress metrics, and similar usage information.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: We use cookies, pixels, web server logs, and web beacons to authenticate users, personalize your experience, understand feature usage, and measure/optimize advertising and performance. You may be able to disable cookies in your browser, but some features may not function properly. When the Services are made available through third-party sites, those sites maintain their own cookie policies.
  • Information from social media: We may collect information you share with us on our social media pages (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok) and receive aggregate analytics from those platforms. This Privacy Policy does not cover personal information collected directly by those platforms; review their privacy policies for details.
  • Analytics services: We use third-party analytics services (e.g., Google Analytics) to evaluate usage, compile reports, and analyze performance. These providers use cookies and similar technologies. By using the Services, you consent to processing by these providers as described here. To learn more about Google Analytics (including opt-out options), visit https://www.google.com/analytics. Note: opting out may limit functionality.

1.5 Optional integrations (e.g., calendar)

If we offer optional integrations (for example, a “Publish to Google Calendar” feature to add class sessions or deadlines), we will request the minimum OAuth scopes needed and use the data solely to create and maintain the events you ask us to manage. At present, such integrations (if enabled) would store only the identifiers necessary to update or remove events created by Thea Career. Disconnecting the integration revokes the token and stops further access. We will update this Privacy Policy prior to enabling any broader read/write behavior.

1.6 Data retention and deletion for integration identifiers

If you disconnect an integration, we may retain limited identifiers (e.g., calendarId and eventId) to preserve history and prevent duplicates if you reconnect later. You can request permanent deletion of these identifiers at any time by emailing support@theacareer.com from the account associated with your workspace. After verification, we will delete identifiers from active systems within 7 business days and from backups during the next routine rotation (within 30 days). Deleting identifiers does not remove events already written to your third-party calendar.

2. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use your personal information to provide the Services and operate our business, including to:

  • Service delivery: Provide, maintain, and support the Services; deliver courses and certifications; track progress; administer quizzes and assignments; issue certificates; communicate about your account, purchases, deadlines, changes, and policy updates.
  • Payments: Process purchases and subscriptions via our payment processors.
  • Analytics and improvements: Understand usage trends; monitor and analyze effectiveness; improve the Services; develop new features; test and secure our infrastructure.
  • Personalization: Recommend courses or content; tailor experiences and communications.
  • Marketing (where permitted): As allowed by law, send information about Thea Career offerings or third-party offerings that may be useful to you. Where required, we will obtain your prior opt-in consent for electronic marketing. You may opt out at any time (see Section 7).
  • Optional integrations: For any enabled integration (see 1.5), solely to perform the tasks you request (e.g., create/maintain events).

3. HOW WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION

We may share or disclose Contact Information, Billing Information, Geolocational Information, and/or Other Information in the following circumstances:

  • Service providers: With cloud hosting, customer support, analytics, marketing/communications tools, payment processors, and similar vendors who process information on our behalf under appropriate contractual protections.
  • Aggregate insights: We may analyze and share aggregated, de-identified data to operate, maintain, manage, and improve the Services, or to describe our Services to partners. Aggregate data does not identify you.
  • Operational assistance: We may employ companies/individuals to perform functions on our behalf (e.g., marketing assistance, billing, customer service) with access only as necessary and as permitted by law.
  • Advertising and remarketing: We may share limited Other Information with third-party advertisers/remarketers to tailor and optimize advertising on and off the Services using cookies/pixels. By using the Services, you consent to this processing. We do not share integration identifiers (e.g., calendar IDs) with advertisers or data brokers.
  • Third-party marketing (optional): We may, where permitted by law, add your personal information to cooperative databases and/or share with select third parties so they can send you information about their products/services. You may opt out by emailing support@theacareer.com.
  • Business transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, investment, reorganization, sale of assets, or similar event, personal information may be transferred as part of the transaction, subject to applicable law.
  • Legal compliance and protection: We may disclose information to comply with law, court order, or lawful request; to protect rights, property, or safety of Thea Career, our users, or others; or to detect, prevent, or address fraud, security, or technical issues.

We take reasonable measures to require recipients of your personal information to (i) use it only for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy; (ii) not disclose it except as permitted here or by law; and (iii) protect its privacy and security.

4. HOW WE PROTECT YOUR INFORMATION

We take commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect Contact Information, Billing Information, Geolocational Information, and Other Information from loss, misuse, and unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. However, no security system is impenetrable. We cannot guarantee the security of our databases, nor can we guarantee that information you supply will not be intercepted while being transmitted over the Internet (email may be particularly vulnerable).

5. CHILDREN’S INFORMATION

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 through the Services. If you are under 13, please do not provide personal information to us. Parents/guardians should monitor their children’s internet usage. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will endeavor to delete it.

6. EXTERNAL WEBSITES AND PAYMENT SERVICE PROVIDERS

The Services may contain links to third-party websites. Thea Career has no control over the privacy practices or content of our business partners, advertisers, sponsors, or other websites to which we link. We are not responsible for the content or privacy policies of those third parties. Review the applicable third-party privacy policies and terms when visiting any other websites or using payment services.

7. ACCESSING AND MODIFYING INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION PREFERENCES

If you have registered for the Services, you may access, review, delete, and make changes to your Contact Information, certain profile details, and preferences via your account settings. You may manage marketing emails by clicking “unsubscribe” at the bottom of any Thea Career marketing email or by contacting us at support@theacareer.com. Registered Users cannot opt out of receiving transactional emails related to their account (e.g., receipts, critical updates). We will process requests in a timely manner, though complete removal from backups may take additional time as noted in Section 1.6.

8. DO NOT TRACK

Third parties (e.g., ad networks, analytics providers) may collect information about your online activities over time and across different websites when you use the Services. While many browsers offer a “Do Not Track” option, there is no industry standard for commercial websites. At this time, we do not recognize or respond to DNT signals.

9. NOTICE TO CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS

California residents may request information regarding the types of personal information shared with third parties for those third parties’ direct marketing purposes during the preceding calendar year and the names/addresses of those third parties (Civil Code § 1798.83). Submit requests to support@theacareer.com.

10. NOTICE TO NEVADA RESIDENTS

Nevada residents may opt out of the sale of personal information to third parties. To exercise this right, email support@theacareer.com with the subject line “Nevada Do Not Sell Request” and include your name and the email address associated with your account.

11. IMPORTANT NOTICE TO NON-U.S. RESIDENTS

The Services are operated in the United States. If you are located outside the U.S., any information you provide will be transferred to the U.S., where privacy laws may not be as protective as those in your country of origin. By using the Services, you consent to the transfer and processing of your personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

12. UPDATES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY

This Privacy Policy is effective as of the date stated at the top. We may update this Policy from time to time with or without prior notice to reflect changes in our practices. We will indicate at the top when it was most recently updated, and we encourage you to revisit this page periodically. By accessing the Services after changes are made, you are deemed to have accepted such changes.
